Every video on CleanStream goes through a three-layer safety system before any child can watch it. Here's exactly how it works — from upload to live.
Anyone can create a free CleanStream account. Kids under 13 must provide a parent or guardian email address during signup. That parent receives an approval email — the account is not activated until they click Approve. This is COPPA compliance by design, not checkbox.
Sign in and go to the Upload page. CleanStream automatically compresses your video to 720p / 2 Mbps right in the browser — no app or software needed. Add a title, description, category (Science, Gaming, Creative, etc.), and the minimum age you think the content is right for. Free accounts get 1 upload to try the platform. Annual members get unlimited uploads.
After you submit, your parent or guardian receives an email with a preview of the video details. They click Approve or Decline — no login or account required on their part. This is the first gate. Only parent-approved videos move forward to moderation. If your parent declines, you'll receive a notification and can edit and resubmit.
Our moderation team reviews every parent-approved video. We check for age-appropriateness, content quality, and alignment with our Community Standards. We typically review submissions within 24–72 hours. You'll receive an email with the result — approved or rejected with a reason.
Once approved, your video is published on CleanStream and visible to all viewers. Free-tier videos are stored for 30 days from approval. Annual members get permanent storage. Your creator name and video category are public — your email and personal details are never shown.
